A Fan-Favorite Has Returned: Any Quilter Can Swiftly Complete This Classic Quilt Block

OMAHA, Neb. – June 21, 2022 – AccuQuilt, a fabric cutting machine and die manufacturer, announced the launch of the GO! Grandmother’s Fan-9” Finished Die. No paper piecing is required to construct this graceful block, which is advantageous to beginning quilters and veteran makers alike. This popular die is available for purchase on AccuQuilt’s website as well as at a local retailer.

GO! Grandmother's Fan-9" Finished Die with Die Board

The GO! Grandmother’s Fan-9” Finished Die features five different Block on Board (BOB) shapes: fan blades (for three different colors), the center of the fan, and the corner of the fan. With this die, three entire 4-color quilt blocks can effortlessly be cut in the GO! and GO! Big Electric Fabric Cutters as well as the Studio 2 with an appropriate adapter in a single pass.

“The Grandmother’s Fan is a traditional quilt block that takes patience, precision, and a lot of time to cut by hand,” said Lynn Gibney, Chief Brand and Product Officer. “This die allows quilters to cut all of the shapes in seconds, and the screenprinted letters on the die board helps keep each different piece organized before following the included instructions to sew the first block.”

The GO! Grandmother’s Fan-9” Finished Die:

  • Can safely, quickly, and accurately cut up to six layers of a variety of fabrics.
  • Features specialized dog-eared corners and 1/4” seam allowance for easy alignment and piecing.
  • Is Fat Quarter friendly.
  • Lets quilters bust up scraps.

“The Grandmother’s Fan block has a lovely curve, and a lot of quilters can be hesitant to utilize any patterns with curves in them,” said Erica Bottger, AccuQuilt’s Creativity Expert. “However, this die comes with notches on the curves, which makes sewing each piece together effortless.”

Since each block finishes at 9”, the GO! Grandmother’s Fan-9” Finished Die pairs beautifully with other GO! Dies that finish at the same size. Making a themed summer quilt with the GO! Flamingo Die or using the GO! Qube Mix & Match 9” Block to create various pinwheel blocks are just some of the creative possibilities this BOB die holds.

The GO! Grandmother’s Fan-9” Finished Die comes with free downloadable patterns at a $29 value, including three new quilt patterns that are exclusive to this release (pictured below):

  • GO! Fanciful Flower Throw Quilt
  • GO! Gingham Heart Throw Quilt
  • GO! Waves of Blue Throw Quilt
  • GO! Sunrays Pillow
  • GO! Grandmother’s Garden Wall Hanging

  • GO! Fans All Around Throw Quilt
