Quilters Reach New Heights: Create Traditional Tree of Life Quilts with Ease

Apr 19, 2022 12:15:00 PM / by Cayden Crowise

OMAHA, Neb. – April 19, 2022 – AccuQuilt, a U.S. based organization that manufactures fabric cutting machines and dies, released their new GO! Tree of Life Block on Board Die that will help quilters reach new heights this spring. They can be purchased from the AccuQuilt website or through a local AccuQuilt Retailer.

GO! Tree of Life-14" Finished Die

Anyone possessing this die can cut one three-color, 14-inch block traditional quilt block in just seconds and is perfect for heritage or keepsake quilting. AccuQuilt’s Chief Brand and Product Officer, Lynn Gibney, explained that this new product will dramatically reduce the time needed to cut this block.

“The GO! Tree of Life Die will help quilters cut 17 shapes that are challenging, and time-consuming, to cut,” said Gibney. “To create just one tree of life quilt block requires 73 pieces to be cut. Imagine how long that would take to cut by hand. Now, everyone can cut an entire block in just seconds with one pass through an AccuQuilt fabric cutter.”

This die is perfect for confident beginning quilters because it does not possess Y-seams – which are common in traditional quilt blocks and require a little more experience to tackle.

“AccuQuilt strives to make the art of quilting accessible to everyone,” said Gibney. “If you can sew a quarter-inch seam, then you can create gorgeous quilts using the AccuQuilt fabric cutting system,” said Gibney.

GO! Tree of Life Block on Board Die will:

  • Safely, quickly, and accurately cut up to six layers of cotton quilting fabric.
  • Work with the GO! and GO! Big Fabric Cutters.
  • Include screen-printed letters for easy piecing.
  • Offer dog-eared corners for easy alignment.
  • Account for a quarter-inch seam allowance.
  • Come with free patterns.

When using one of AccuQuilt’s patterns, Gibney recommends that you use AccuQuilt’s free design tool, GO! Quilt, to see how color play will affect the outcome of your quilt - long before you cut any fabric.

The Tree of Life block was popular from the late 1800s to the middle of the 20th century and was known by other names - such as Temperance Tree, Centennial Tree, and Tree of Paradise.

Every AccuQuilt die is a safe-to-use product that contains blades recessed in foam that quickly and accurately cut fabric when run through one of the company’s fabric cutters. The fabric cutting system assists makers by reducing time, fatigue, and frustration.
